The short answer
In Calgary in 2026, expect roughly $800 to $1,500 per vinyl window installed, and $900 to $1,800 once you specify triple glazing. Large openings and premium products run higher, commonly $1,600 to $2,500+. Whole-home replacements land around $9,000 to $13,000 for a bungalow and $16,000 to $22,000 for a two-storey with 15 to 20 openings.

Price by window type
| Window | Installed each | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Standard casement (about 24×48) | $550–$800 | Triple glazing included at the lower end of sizes |
| Typical bedroom or living room window | $800–$1,500 | Vinyl frame, double or triple pane |
| Triple pane, mid to large | $900–$1,800 | The common Calgary specification |
| Premium or oversized | $1,600–$2,500+ | Large glass areas, specialty shapes, structural openings |
| Basement egress window | Quoted individually | Concrete cutting, window well and permit make this a separate job |
Is triple pane worth it in Calgary?
For most homeowners here, yes. Triple glazing typically adds $150 to $300 per window and buys you three things that matter in a Calgary winter: a warmer glass surface so you get less condensation, noticeably less cold draft near large windows, and better sound deadening near busy roads. In a chinook climate, where temperatures swing 20 degrees in a day, the reduced condensation alone saves sills and drywall.
What changes your quote
Size and style
Casement, slider, picture and awning windows differ in hardware and glass area, so price per opening varies widely.
Retrofit or full frame
Retrofit keeps the existing frame and costs less. Full-frame replacement fixes rot and air leakage properly.
Interior and exterior finishing
New trim, capping and sealing are part of a proper job. A quote without them is not comparable.
Access
Second and third storey openings need more setup and sometimes lifts.
Signs it's time
- Fog or moisture between the panes: the seal has failed and the window can't be repaired
- Frost or running condensation on the inside glass in January
- You can feel the draft from a metre away, or the curtains move with the window shut
- Sashes that stick, won't lock, or have rotted wood at the sill
- Visible gaps or failed caulking around the exterior trim
If hail has damaged window capping or trim at the same time as your roof and siding, it usually belongs in one insurance claim rather than three separate jobs.
Permits
Replacing a window with the same size unit generally does not need a permit in Calgary. Enlarging an opening, cutting a new one, or adding a basement egress window does. See our permit guide.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to replace all the windows in a Calgary home?
Roughly $9,000 to $13,000 for a bungalow and $16,000 to $22,000 for a two-storey with 15 to 20 openings, with triple-pane vinyl windows in 2026.
Can windows be replaced in winter?
Yes. We replace one opening at a time so the house is never open, and we seal and insulate as we go. Very deep cold is the exception and we will tell you if it is better to wait.
How long do new windows last?
Good vinyl windows commonly last 20 to 30 years. Seal failure, which causes fogging between panes, is the usual end of life.
Will new windows cut my heating bill?
They help, but windows are usually a comfort upgrade first. The bigger savings in older Calgary homes normally come from attic insulation and air sealing.
Do you replace doors at the same time?
Yes. Entry and patio doors are often replaced in the same visit, which saves a second mobilization. See windows & doors.
